Daisy Ingraham School Integrated Preschool Program

Our program provides a high quality preschool education as well as special education services to children between the ages of three-five in the Westbrook Community.  Our classes can have up to a 50:50 ratio of students with special needs and students who serve as peer models. The program strives to meet the individual needs of each child participating.  Children learn best through active play experiences, exploration and language opportunities with other children.  The program follows the Connecticut Early Learning and Development Standards (CTELDS) which are aligned with Kindergarten through grade 12 Common Core Standards.  We also follow the Creative Curriculum for Preschool.  Students are involved with in-depth investigations to include: Beginning of Year, Clothes, Building, Trees, Balls, Reduse, Reuse, Recycle, and Getting Ready for Kindergarten.  These studies begin with student questions and throughout the study they will apply skills in literacy, mathematics, the arts and technology as they explore concepts in science and social studies.  Students learn academic and social skills through teacher directed lessons during whole group and small group lessons as well as during play and investigations in choice times and interest areas within the classroom.  Our program supports a strong family-school partnership .  Our parents are an important part of their children's education and we look forward to engaging with all of you and working together to ensure that your child has a positive preschool experience!

CT Early Learning and Development Standards

Our program follows the Connect Early Learning and Development Standards (CTELDS).  These include comprehensive and multi-domain early learning standards that reflect a progression of skills, birth through age 5, aligned with kindergarten through grade 12 state standards.  The eight domains include Social and Emotional Development, Physical Health and Development, Language and Literacy, Creative Arts, Mathematics, Science, Cognition, and Social Studies.  For more information on the Connecticut Early Learning and Development Standards, click on the link below:
